Set out after getting the grass cut Saturday morning for an afternoon of orienteering at Powhite Park in Richmond Va. Powhite Park is a small 100 area park but has some of the most narrow twisty singletrack located in the city. This little park has about everything that a mountain biker is looking for. Fast flowing singletrack, hill climbs, bermed turns, and a half-pipe called "The Buzz".
The course was a traditional orienteering course with white, yellow, orange courses set on it.

My daughter has an interest in the sport so we when out to do the beginner course first with her being the lead and working on finding her controls

After a short break, we headed out on the orange course. I had to stick to the trails and we only picked up 13 out of 19 controls. The day was becoming long and we were running out of time.
Central Virginia Orienteering Club did a great job setting this event up. I will be sure to make the next event in a couple of weeks.
